John Tucker Must Die

Not even close. Hopeful cinephiles might long for pitch-black satire á la Heathers (in which the title characters must die and do, at least in part), but this by-the-book high school revenge comedy has the spine of a wet ramen noodle.

And so must the movie, a timid, screamingly unfunny rip-off of Heathers (they wish) in which a high school newbie (Brittany Snow) helps three popular girls exact revenge on John Tucker (Desperate Housewives hunk Jess Metcalfe) for pretending each girl is the only one he's boffing. Awful.

Sophia Bush stars as Beth McIntyre, one of John's girlfriends who's plotting to take him down. Beth is an outspoken liberal activist who must work with women from other cliques to put a stop to his playboy ways. Prior to landing the part in "John Tucker Must Die," Sophia had made small appearances in "National Lampoon's Van Wilder," "Nip/Tuck" and "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch." In 2003, she got her big break as Brooke Davis on the hit WB teen drama series "One Tree Hill." While starring as the show's resident party-girl cheerleader, she also took part in films like the 2005 motocross actioner "Supercross" and the 2006 horror flick "Stay Alive" before landing the role of Beth. 041b061a72
